Question: What was or is your child's security? A blanket? Pacifier? When did or do you plan on taking it away?
Answer: My 1 yo has a blanket. I'm not sure when I'll take it away. I wanted to get some opions first :).

My older daughter used a pacifier. I took it away at age 3ish. She loved her pacifier. My younger daughter it's always been a blanket. She still has one that she takes everywhere with her.
ReplyDeleteMy oldest daughter gave her binky up at 8 months, my son will be 3 in October and still uses his (we're trying to get rid of it without much success), and my 4 month old uses one on occasion but isn't really sure about it. Go figure! :)
ReplyDeleteNone of our kids used a pacifier however some had a favorite blanket or stuffed animal. Seems like they just want to sleep in our room all the time. :)
ReplyDeleteMy kids loved their pacifiers. My son was a NICU baby & learned how to associate his tummy being full w/ this nipple thing in his mouth. He had his "gah" until he was about 3 1/2 - 4.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter just liked her binky & had it until she was maybe 3 - 3 1/2
My kids never got attached to anything. Strange because I always thought they would. I had a teddy (still have him in my closet :D) And life certainly would have been easier at times with a love for paci. They all hated paci's though. Only the boob would do.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter had a blankie and sucked her thumb until kindergarten, the thumb sucking stopped and she started snuggling with a stuffed toy instead at night. I still keep a piece of her blankie.

No kids yet, but I had a blanket as a kid. I still have it somewhere but don't use it.
ReplyDeleteI had a pacifier til I was almost 5 and all my kids luv them too
ReplyDeleteNothing - we tried pacifiers and she wouldn't take one, ever. And we never put anything in the crib with her until she was 16 months old, so she's attached to nothing. that's good in some ways - no issues there.
ReplyDeleteMy three year old has a really soft bear. Well his first one fell apart so he got a new one and it looks brand new. He doesn't really use it much anymore (his own decision) so now his little brother sleeps with it.
ReplyDeleteFor my oldest daughter it was definitely a binkie, but for the other 3 it has been playing with their hair; twirling it, rubbing it, running their fingers through it...they all 3 still play with their hair at bedtime!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and thanks for the GREAT comment...you really helped me see things from a different perspective and I appreciate that!
For my daughter, it was pacifiers, so one day, around 2 maybe? can't remember, the paci fairy came to visit and left her a small gift and took the pacifiers away! She still sleeps with the blanket she came home from the hospital in, she's 11 1/2 :).
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog :). Your baby is adorable!!!
My son had a blankie until he was about 4. Somewhere along the line he lost it. I'm sad that it got lost because I would have liked to have held onto it for a keepsake. My daughter used me (nursing) as her security item until she was about 19 months and then she will rotate stuffed animals. She has never clung to one particular item.
ReplyDeleteMy 2 year old has an elephant lovie, named elefriend. At times he seems like he's ready to give it up, but I'm not so sure I'm ready for that part of his life to be gone!
ReplyDeleteWish I had some advice. Neither of my kids ere/are attached to anything. GL
